Rainforest World Music Festival- Preview

I am just back from Taylor's Lakeside Campus. It was a real developed college. What do I mean by 'developed'? It was like a high-end residential, or should I say commercial building by some famous developer. Oh it was a luxury one. I love the amphitheater. It reminds me to the life in Queenstown. I doubt all place other than Asia will have this open-air theater which people made use of, but Queenstown is the only place I've been staying for more than 3 months other than Malaysia.

Here is the quote for Rainforest World Music Festival:

The Rainforest World Music Festival is an annual 3-day music festival celebrating the diversity of world music, held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with daytime music workshops, cultural displays, craft displays, food stalls, and main-stage evening concerts. It is now one of the largest musical events in Malaysia with a total weekend audience approaching 30,000.

The festival features a wide range of performances from traditional music, to world fusion and contemporary world music. The festival emphasizes the use of traditional acoustic world instruments, although electric accompaniment instruments are common. Invited performers are prominent artists from Sarawak, other provinces of Malaysia, surrounding countries, and from around the world.

My bf's sister is a Taylor's student, and she was selling the ticket for the preview when I met her last month. Kindly bought 2, for bf and I. I was really interested in the music festival (I've been aiming for it, quitely for years!), and my bf was kinda forced to go. It cost RM20 each, including goodies bag etc.

The entrance is quite open, where you can easily walk in without buying any ticket. But the ticket allows you to get a goodies bag, which includes a T-Shirt of the Music festival, a can of drink, and vouchers for food and beverages, which they offer quite good food.

The show was kick-off by Taylor's students, or string band I supposed (since I saw a lot of string instruments), playing a lot of songs. The starting was not so well organised, but I can see the conductor, or whoever trained them, was putting more effort in the last 3 songs, which includes Hawaiian-Five-O theme song and Star Wars theme songs. They are wonderfully played. Bravo!

There are currently 21 bands that have been confirmed to perform during the real festival this year, however there are only 2 bands performing tonight. They are both trio, Paddy Keenan Trio from Ireland and Victor Valdez Trio from Mexico. I love both the music!!

I really loved Irish music! That was maybe 'The Corrs' influence. Their music was so Irish that when i was listening to it, I can imagine I was in the forest, listening to birds chipping, and nearly fall in meditate. The guy who sings has the voice that I really liked, low and easy. I should have listened to more Irish music since today. Good luck in their future performance!

About the Victor Valdes, they are wearing real Mexican attires, which I linked to Mr Potato's advertisement, and reminds me to nachos. The three performers are from Mexico, Argentina etc which I categorized in Spanish-speaking country, or Latin America perhaps. They do perform a lot of famous Mexican songs, including Besame Mucho (Kiss me a lot) and La Bamba. These songs are famous, but not well-introduce to Malaysians however.

I hoped to have chance to attend the real festival, somehow, someday. It was not easy to fly over to Kuching and join the whole festival, since I was not a real music person, neither music 200% lover. I just love music to be part of my life, not the whole of my life.

I shall end this post now. It has been 1am, and I am sick.

Blogging without motive

Yes I did it... I am back from New Zealand Working Holiday, which is 6 months a.k.a. 181 days, including my Christmas (I never celebrate it however), and Chinese New Year. Perhaps I missed Deepavali too!

It was a really really unforgettable experience, and I learnt a lot from the trip. I learnt to be grateful and appreciate whatever I am having now. A really good family who always support me, and a loving boyfriend, which I feel the love is increasing (is there a meter for this?) Haha... I have a good job, good office and good colleagues, good housemates etc. Everything has been so wonderful since I was back. There is no point I am writing all these, but I have to keep this record so that I will feel great after I read this when I reviewed this post, any when I feel down.

I am a happy, happy, very happy, very very happy little PENGUIN!

p/s: not the Emperor Penguin who lost its way to New Zealand!

I have joined www.onlybeauty.com.my early this month, where the website offers free sample for some testing... The first time I apply for a sample (9 May 2010), it succeed with a Mary Chia pampering facial which I am not sure how much it worth and RM100 cash voucher.

I've received a SMS on 14 May 2010, listing :"From ONLY BEAUTY ref. Congratulations! You have won yourself a FREE Pampering Facial Session + RM 100 Cash Voucher from Mary Chia Beauty and Slimming Specialist. Please get ready to receive call from Mary Chia consultants for appointment. Thanks. T&C apply."

Yesterday 20 May 2010, I've received a call from the consultants, where they didn't mention properly where are they calling from, making me confuse until I heard the word "only beauty", and ask me to make an appointment as soon as possible. The sentence is "Since your session is free of charge, we hope that you can make use of it within this month." Fine for me, since I will be going back to beloved hometown for 1 month plus holiday, so I've made an appointment for today 21 May 2010 11.00am. The branch was at KL Pavilion.

Today I've depart from home at 10am, however met traffic congestion along Federal Highway, making me late for 10 minutes for the appointment. Find a bit hard to go the Mary Chia but however finally found it at Seventh Heaven in KL Pavilion.

They served me a ginger tea, and after that require me to fill my particulars. After around 10 minutes a pretty consultant came in the room and keep on persuading me to change to other package or top up to another service, due to my sun-burnt skin condition from Phuket trip last week. She is a bit aggressive perhaps? on my stinginess in the session. She asks me to take a rejuvenating session which will cost me RM280 for 2 session or RM 140 for trial session. That is definitely out of my budget (I only plan to go for a free facial session, sorry to say that). After I refused, she tried to ask me to take an ampoule and free extraction for RM80 top up. That is a fair deal but my purse only has RM30!! haha pity I have to refuse again. She finally give up and go for the preparation work.

The next girl who serve me brings me to the locker room. It is a fantastic one! Thumb print for every locker for each customer and lock my sandals and bag in it, and change to their slippers. After that bring me to the washroom and after that enter the facial room. Change to the towel and she asks me not to take off my necklace due to the session will not include neck (hard to imagine- I can understand if it does not include shoulder but excluding neck??)

The pampering session was a very simple one, double cleansing with a mask. That's all. It is an ordinary session, which I can do by my own. A short steam on my face is done before applying the mask. The beautician has use a little bit of skill (massage like) on the second cleansing. According to her it is a whitening and hydrating session~ Forget to mention, the beautician also keep on persuading me to top up the service~~ Haiz~

The session was not long, around 45 minutes~ and the first consultant has take over me again, she does not promote their products (perhaps give up on me already), in good manner and wish me luck as a fresh graduate!!~

As a conclusion, I appreciate the chance to have a trial at so-called quite high class facial service in a high class place, but the persuade makes me uncomfortable. But my face is quite thick and shameless to reject all the add-on services haha. Thanks to the consultant for her wishes and not pushy at the end of the session, indeed they let me know that my face is in terrible condition if I do not do extraction!! (when they are persuading to topup)~

p/s: i didn't get the RM100 cash voucher yet... and i totally forgot to ask about it~~

Today, when I was shopping in Jusco, I found out a new brand in Malaysia (I haven't see it before)-- Libresse Sanitary Pad.

Libresse Natural Maxi Normal ClipLibresse Maxi Goodnight

The interesting part is there is a tag of "Beli dengan PERCUMA", of course with terms and conditions as follows:

An interesting offer right?
